How Do Dry Herb Vaporizers Work

The Components

No matter what vaporizer, brand, or product you use they all have the following components: the battery, the heating element, the chamber, and the mouthpiece. Just like people, we all have a torso, a set of limbs and a head no matter fat, thin, short, tall, big or small. These vaporizers got em all.

Battery

This is the mitochondria of the cell, the powerhouse! No battery, no power. As with most appliances, the core function is to supply the energy to vaporize your herbs. Batteries can be meshed with the vaporizer or come detachable.

Heating Element

This is the component that heats your herbs and turns it into vapor. 2 common heating methods here: conduction, and convection. Conduction heating is when the heat source directly touches the flowers. Convection heating is when it’s not. Instead, heated air passes through to vaporize and activate the cannabinoids. Think of conduction as frying an egg on a pan whereas convection is steaming an egg. Or better yet, it’s the difference between deep frying and air frying.

Chamber

The place to store, heat, and vaporize your weed. Depending on the design, style and type of the vaporizer, the chamber size will vary.

Mouthpiece

The last part. This where you give kissy wissies and get vapor in exchange. It’s the ultimate tradeoff. Pieces come in various shapes and sizes depending on the vaporizer. Some are flat, tapered, cylindrical and vary from short to long.

The Process

Quite simple to understand. You only need the brain capacity of an elephant. First, you load the chamber with flower. Next, you turn on the vaporizer which causes the battery to power up the heating element. Once it’s heated, you take a draw and the vapor goes from the chamber through the mouthpiece into your lungs. See, simple right? It’s not rocket science, just a little bit of aero and thermodynamics. Once you’re done, the residue is manually cleaned out. A tool stick will suffice. The best dry herb vaporizers usually come with it but if they don’t, you can try a toothpick or a q-tip.
